I believe
in the timeless connection
between craftsmanship and nature.
From the intricate grains of olive wood to the golden hues of olive oil,
my work weaves together the art of woodworking with Tuscany's rich heritage.
Arpi Woodworking was born from my personal journey of rediscovery. As a child, I spent countless hours in my grandfather’s workshop, where I learned the art of woodworking and the values of true craftsmanship. Though life took me away from this path, a profoundly emotional moment with my father brought me back to my roots and reignited my passion—especially for working with olive wood, a material rich in history and meaning.
My move to Tuscany opened a new chapter in my life, introducing me to the world of olive oil and wine. Inspired by the warm-hearted olive farmers and the timeless traditions of Chianti, I found a natural harmony between my woodworking and Tuscany’s culture. This realization led me to create Arpi Woodworking & Tours—a place where I can share my handcrafted creations and invite others to experience the treasures of this incredible region.
The Short Story Behind the Vision
Mission
At Arpi Woodworking, my mission is to bring people closer to creativity, heritage, and the heart of Tuscany. Whether you’re discovering the magic of olive wood in my workshop or tasting the essence of Chianti in a local olive grove, I strive to create meaningful and authentic experiences that inspire and connect us all.
My Full Story
My father, who was also a carpenter, suffered a stroke one day. We didn’t know if he would survive. When he woke up after surgery, our relationship changed forever. I watched him fight every single day to regain his strength. One afternoon, I was tinkering in his workshop when he came over to see what I was doing. He wasn’t pleased with my work. He took the sandpaper from me—with the hand that had been paralyzed—and began sanding the wood. It was as if something had switched on inside him, and I stood there in awe, recording the moment. That was the turning point for me. I realized that working with my hands isn’t just about creating—it’s about love, perseverance, and healing.
As a child, I spent every Sunday in my grandfather's workshop. The scent of wood, the hum of the tools, and the quiet, focused labor stayed with me, even as life took me in a completely different direction. For many years, I drifted away from woodworking, pursuing a different career path. But life has a peculiar way of reminding you where you truly belong.
My connection to olive oil and wine came later. While searching for olive wood, I met an olive farmer near San Gimignano. As we walked through the olive groves, he shared his process for making olive oil and invited me to taste it. That golden liquid opened up an entirely new world for me. I began to understand that these farmers weren’t just producing oil; they were preserving a rich, centuries-old tradition.
My tours are all about creating a personal, intimate experience. I guide small groups, often families or close friends, through this magical place. I share my story with them, showing them the same locations where I first fell in love with Tuscany. When they leave, I want them to take more than just memories of Tuscany. I want them to carry the feeling that life is full of wonders waiting to be discovered.
The true shift came when I held a woodworking workshop for one of my clients. I decided to enrich the experience with a small olive oil and wine tasting. At the end of the day, my client, visibly moved, told me it had been an unforgettable experience. They asked if I’d consider organizing such tours for others. That moment made me realize how much joy I could share by opening the doors to this beautiful world.
To me, Tuscany is more than just a place. It’s a land of peace, harmony, and quiet happiness. The olive trees basking in the morning light, the earthy aroma of wine cellars, and the simple yet profound way of life here remind me that true beauty lies in simplicity.
For me, woodworking and these tours are deeply connected. The olive wood I work with comes from the same soil that nourishes the olive oil and wine. This land gives life to everything, and I want to share that life with others.
